TAX RATES
|
The 2011 FRANKLIN COUNTY PROPERTY VALUATIONS have been CERTIFIED by the STATE DEPARTMENT OF PROPERTY VALUATION.
It is time for the LOCAL TAXING AUTHORITIES to be holding PUBLIC HEARINGS AND SET THEIR PROPERTY TAX RATES based on these valuations. The TAXING AUTHORITIES are:
FRANKLIN COUNTY FISCAL COURT
FRANKLIN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD
FRANKFORT CITY SCHOOL BOARD
CITY OF FRANKFORT BOARD OF COMMISIONERS
PAUL SAWYIER PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
FRANKLIN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT BOARD
FRANKLIN COUNTY AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION SERVICE
FRANKFORT COUNTY CONSERVATION DISTRICT BOARD
The TAXING AUTHORITIES have the option of setting the COMPENSATING TAX RATE which generates the same amount of tax dollars as in 2010 for that Taxing Authority. Watch the newspaper and attend the PUBLIC HEARINGS to let your voice be heard in setting 2011 TAX RATE! |

Remember!

THE FRANKLIN COUNTY PVA DOES NOT SET PROPERTY TAX RATES!

| The Franklin County Tax Roll is now online. We presently have taken most of the new 'Digital Pictures' of your property and we are now obtaining characteristics so that the files will be complete and updated. So if you see our Field Representatives on your property, please help them obtain the information they need. Anything you can tell us about your property that we may need to know, please come in and give the information to Doug Perry or Steve Martin. |
| |
| Anytime you feel you need to discuss your assessment with us, feel free to call and talk to us. Remember, you must meet and talk with us before the 3rd Monday in May to have a change made in your assessment for that calendar year; otherwise, you must wait until the following January 1. We appreciate your bringing a final appraisal report, insurance documents or if you would like to compare your property with other properties that have sold in the neighborhood, we will be glad to look at any information you may have and together come up with a value. Never hesitate to call us. |

| Remember if you are 65 years of age or older that you are entitled to the Homestead Exemption in the amount of $34,000 for the years 2011 and 2012. Remember: We do not set tax rates. Rates are set in the fall by each of the taxing districts. Watch your local paper to know when districts are meeting to discuss these rates. Statute allows each district to increase their rate by 4% yearly. You should make it your business to become involved in this process. It is our privilege. |
